My CURL-STORY began much like yours, navigating the maze of information on YouTube when transitioning to my natural hair. Those early days were filled with mind-boggling philosophies and techniques, but they often left me more puzzled than enlightened. I had a case of "tutorial overload" and decided it was time for a reset.

 

As the true geek I am, I dove into the world of haircare, digging into reports, studies, and books on all things hair, with a special focus on exquisite tight curls just like mine. 

 

I tested products, concocted DIY recipes, and experimented with styling methods, all in pursuit of what truly worked for me.

 

I even embarked on a secret journey and enrolled in a hairdressing course. Why? Because I'd had one too many disappointing encounters with hairdressers who, though skilled in chemical treatments and braiding, were clueless about the magic of "natural hair." I was determined to become self-sufficient in managing my own curls.

 

Surprisingly, compliments started pouring in from friends, family, and even strangers who admired my hair. Soon, people were seeking advice on how to manage and style their own hair. My hobby turned into a "side hustle."

 

As my knowledge grew, so did the demand for guidance on caring for curly hair and mastering the styles I rocked. I was thrilled that I'd taken the plunge to study hairdressing formally, ensuring that I could offer top-notch services.

 

But the true joy came from the "Thank You's" from women I'd advised. Helping them embrace their natural hair gave me a sense of fulfilment like no other. Witnessing the transformation and newfound confidence that comes from a great hair day is simply intoxicating.

 

I shared this sense of liberation and empowerment with my friends, family, and clients. I taught them how to care for their hair after years of thinking they needed to cover it up. No longer tethered to braids, wigs, weaves, or relaxers as their only options, they stood proudly with their natural curls.

 

And thus, The Curl Coach was born!
